Welcome to the home page of Central Minnesota's Kids Against Hunger, a volunteer-driven effort to package and distribute humanitarian relief where crisis has struck and there is immediate need. Kids Against Hunger is a short-term hunger solution.

Katrina Update:

KAHCM is partnering with KAH of Stewart to send nutritious meals in order to feed hurricane survivors. A shipment of 285,512 meals has been sent to the Greater Houston area by Anderson Trucking who has generously donated this service!

Another 185,000 meals have already been hand delivered to two food banks in Louisiana who are feeding Katrina survivors!

KAHCM is planning on adding more sessions at our warehouse (that is generously donated to us by Ron Morton and John Kaiser) in order to accomodate more packaging groups to continue to send food to the Southern USA as well as to honor commitments made to those in areas such as Niger where 800,000 children under the age of 5 are in immediate danger of starvation due to famine. The Kids Against Hunger satellite groups are commited to sending one million meals to our friends in the South who are suffering so greatly at this time. Our prayers are with them.

Gift Packs:

Another way we can provide help is by providing helpful items such as hygiene, clothing, school supplies and even toys for hurricane survivors. Please look under gift packs for ideas on what to assemble.

Through a relationship with a reputable organization Stop Hunger Now ( www.stophungernow.org ) we have secured a spot to mail “Gift, Hygiene, School Supply, and Clothing Packs” to for Hurricane Katrina survivors!!

In order to get as many items there in the swiftest way possible the best way for you to send an assembled pack would be if you would personally mail your packs directly to this corporation:

Liberty Tax Services

5958 Airline Highway

Baton Rouge , LA 70805

This corporation is prepared to receive donations and then will have them quickly expedited to the local distribution centers and shelters who are aiding hurricane victims. This is a reputable organization who have ensured that all items mailed will get to people in need.

It would assist Kids Against Hunger tremendously to have you personally mail your own packs as this will eliminate substantial mailing costs for us and then we can use those funds to purchase more food ingredients for people in need. Also, please note that there is no way to provide a tax donation receipt for these items – these items are to be used immediately and the shelters are too busy assisting those in need to make receipts for individuals for items such as these. We would suggest that you write “Gift Packs” somewhere on your package so they know what they are. We would also encourage you and your families, friends and co-workers to perhaps send a personal note, a photo, a poem, a verse or something that you might want someone there to be able to receive.

Interested in scheduling Group??

Please look under "Future Events" for our latest schedule. We will take 50 people for each shift. We will take volunteers on a first come basis. Once a session is full we will write “CLOSED” on it so you know that no more spots are available. Otherwise there will be a number in the right margin (i.e. 50 People) that will tell you how many spots are still open.

We will also still accommodate School Groups who wish to schedule field trips during the day.

Any groups who want to schedule a group will need to call our office (320) 203-1799 or e-mail us at [email protected] in order to make arrangements.

The WFP has posted that 25,000 children a day die due to hunger related causes. Every five seconds one child dies because she or he was hungry.

Kids Against Hunger of Central Minnesota is committed to helping hungry children and their families throughout the world!!
