Uganda

"The Pearl of Africa"

This past August (2003), I had the opportunity to travel to Jinja, Uganda . Located in East Africa on the northern shores of Lake Victoria and the mouth of the Nile River, Jinja is the second largest city in Uganda. The countryside is lush and hilly with breathtaking views of the lake and river and the people are very soft spoken and friendly. However, one does not need to look far to see the ravaging effects of extreme poverty, starvation and disease. The AIDS crisis has left thousands of children orphaned and in desperate need of food and medical attention. While working at the Children's Hospital, I was able to offer our food to severely malnourished children, some who lost both parents to AIDS and is being raised by his grandmother. Approximately 40 tons of Kids Against Hunger food is now in Uganda! Through organizations such as Arise Africa International our food will be distributed to children in hospitals, orphanages and schools. To learn more about the Arise Africa International logon to www.ariseafrica.com. With your help, we can continue to offer this life changing gifts two the beautiful children of Uganda and pass on the love Christ first showed us. This past Christmas the words “ Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men ” has never had greater meaning for me.
