Get Informed—and tell others!
Websites of organizations like Bread for the World, World Vision, World Food Programme, Heifer International, and World Relief are great places to start learning about global hunger!
Check your consumption. Conserve resources.
Walk or ride your bike instead of driving. Carpool! Buy second hand (Savers, Goodwill, Consignment Shops, etc.). Buy only what you will use. Purchase things that are reusable. Choose paper over plastic bags (or bring your own!). Turn lights off. Unplug electronic items when not in use. Don't let water run when you aren't using it!
Organize a food drive for your local food shelf!
This could be a great opportunity to get your school, team, club, or faith community involved!
Be aware of what you buy.
Where is your food coming from? your clothing? Many products sold in the US are made by workers (often children) who are forced to work in horrible conditions in factories known as sweatshops—and the same is often true with our food. Choose fair trade and local goods & do more product research at: http://www.betterworldshopper.com/
Donate your time and money to projects that advance sustainable agriculture development.
For starters, look into the projects headed by the American Jewish World Service & Heifer International!
Volunteer in your community with Kids Against Hunger, Feed My Starving Children, and your local food shelf to meet immediate hunger needs!
Write an Op-Ed in your local newspaper.
This is a great way to increase your community's awareness of local and global hunger, and to spread the word about what can be done about it!
Try giving instead of receiving on holidays and birthdays!
Instead of making a list of things you would like to get for gifts, ask your family members to make donations to anti-hunger organizations in your name; or maybe give a goat or seeds to a small farmer through Heifer International! (www.heifer.org)
Eat less meat.

Call or Write your elected officials (state & federal) and ask them to support anti-hunger/poverty legislation.
Ask your elected officials at all levels to uphold the RIGHT TO FOOD around the world as outlined in the UN Declaration of Human Rights, child nutrition programs in your state, and other legislation that works to create sustainable ways for farmers around the world to farm effectively and be able to compete in the global marketplace.
