Kids Against Hunger is a volunteer-driven effort to package and distribute humanitarian relief in communities worldwide where there is immediate need. We at Kids Against Hunger of Central Minnesota believe that every person can make a difference in the fight against national and global hunger. Knowing that everyone can have an impact, the Kids Against Hunger program has been created to give people an opportunity to have a hands-on part in food distribution. To this end, Kids Against Hunger harnesses volunteer groups - such as school, church, civic and scouting troops - to package our food and prepare it for distribution to areas of the world where crisis has struck and food is needed immediately. Kids Against Hunger is a short-term hunger solution
Kids Against Hunger partners with reputable organizations who know the communities in which they serve. We look for organizations who are meeting the immediate need while working on long-term solutions. Kids Against Hunger staff and liasons travel to the destinations to see first hand how the food is being distributed and how the organization they are partnering with is meeting that particular communities need.
The Kids Against Hunger of Central Minnesota program began March 1, 2003 as a small locally based satellite of its parent organization, Feeding Children International. (We are our own 501(c)(3) and operate independently of FCI) Before long, the idea of kids helping other kids to combat hunger grew in popularity. As a result, more than 8000 volunteers have packaged over five million meals since opening on March 1, 2003!
Kids Against Hunger not only nourishes hungry children, but the spirit of its volunteers. Each week, as volunteers package hundreds of much-needed food servings, they also get a chance to talk, share, laugh and reconnect with one another through the program. More importantly, through their packaging efforts, volunteers learn and reaffirm the importance of looking beyond themselves and towards serving the needs of others.

Our revolutionary food package has been developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and ADM. This one package provides six nutritionally-complete servings for only .20 cents per serving.
